You probably made – or know someone who made – a new year’s resolution to get or stay active in 2015. While we are well into 2015 now, it’s never too late to act on your resolution. Here are five useful tips for keeping a resolution to get more physically active.
1. Start slowly. If you haven’t been active for a while, start at a comfortable level and add time and intensity gradually.
2. Track your progress. Wear your Fitbit and sync it with your computer or smartphone to keep track of your activity.
3. Exercise with a friend. Having a support network can help motivate you to keep up with your exercise program, and can make it more fun!
4. Mix it up. Try a new dance or exercise class or go for a walk in a new neighborhood or park.
5. Make TV time active – do sit-ups, push-ups, or squats while you watch TV. Or better yet – take a walk with a friend or family member instead of watching TV.
