Reaching your weekly
fitness goal of 3 hours of vigorous aerobic exercise shouldn’t feel like a
burden. Make your workouts fun by using music, rewards, or working out with another
person. One of the best, and least taxing ways to reach your fitness goal is
through brisk walking. Below you will find 5 of the most beautiful Bay Area
hikes. We encourage you to get out there, appreciate the views and meet your
fitness goal in an enjoyable way!
1. Muir Woods-1 Muir Woods Road, Mill Valley, CA 94941
Distance: 4.5 miles, half day
Best for: redwoods and a shady hike.
Tip:
parking is limited so get to the park early. No pets allowed are allowed in the
park.

2. Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve- 2500 Embarcadero Rd, Palo Alto, CA
94303
Distance: 5 miles, easy
Best for: dogs on leash, bird watching.
Tip:
try jogging some of this trail! The flat, soft land is the perfect place to get
in extra vigorous activity.

3. Mt. Tamalpais State Park -3801 Panoramic Hwy, Mill Valley,
CA 94941
Best for: the view. On a clear day you can see the Farallon islands, the
Marin County hills, San Francisco and the bay, hills and cities of the East
Bay, and Mount Diablo.

4. Fort Funston-Fort Funston Rd, San Francisco, CA 94118
Distance: 1.5-3 miles
Best for: beach hike, dogs allowed off leash.
Tips:
enjoy a walk along the dirt trails or along the water on the beach!

5. San Bruno Mountain State Park-555 Guadalupe Canyon Pkwy,
Brisbane, CA 94005
Distance: 3.5 miles, easy, rolling hills
Best for: views of San Francisco
Tip:
Bring a picnic lunch. There are picnic tables at the base of the trail.
